Sliding Glass Balcony Systems
Sliding glass panels that run sideways on rails, closing your balcony in a practical, economical way. Single or insulated glazing, made-to-measure production and a free survey.
What is a Sliding Glass?
A sliding glass system closes a balcony with panels that glide horizontally along top and bottom rails, rather than moving vertically or folding. It is typically the most economical glass balcony enclosure, operated manually rather than by motor.
Sliding systems work well where a motorized guillotine system isn't needed or where there's no nearby power point, and where occasional side-stacking of open panels in a corner isn't a concern.
Sliding Glass in motion
The mechanism
Panels hang or sit on rollers running along aluminium top and bottom rails. Sliding a panel moves it along the rail, and open panels stack together at one end of the track. Standard-series panels use a single rail configuration; premium series use wider panels and smoother roller mechanisms for easier operation.
Sliding Glass configurations
Single Glazing – Standard Series
The most economical sliding glass configuration, using standard-width panels.
Single Glazing – Premium Series, Wide Panels
Wider panels mean fewer panels and joints, giving a cleaner look and less obstructed view when closed.
Insulated Glazing
A double-glazed configuration for improved thermal and acoustic performance.

Frequently asked questions
Is sliding glass cheaper than a guillotine system?
Yes, sliding glass is generally the more economical balcony enclosure option, since it is manually operated and doesn't require a motor or electrical connection.
Does sliding glass fully seal the balcony?
Panels interlock on the rail system and provide good protection from wind, rain and dust in normal conditions, though the view is partially blocked by stacked panels when open.
Can sliding glass be motorized?
Sliding systems are typically manual by design; if you want motorized operation we'd recommend considering a guillotine glass system instead.
How much maintenance does it need?
Periodic cleaning of the rail tracks and rollers keeps the panels sliding smoothly; this is a simple task we explain during handover.
