Pool Cover and Automatic Pool Shutter Systems
Motorized pool covers that open and close at the push of a button, improve child and pet safety, keep the water clean and reduce heat loss. Custom engineering for new and existing pools, with a free survey.
What is a Pool Cover?
An automatic pool cover is a system of interlocking slats, driven by a motorized roller, that opens and closes over a swimming pool. Beyond convenience, a closed cover is a recognised safety barrier against accidental falls, and it keeps debris out of the water and reduces evaporation and heat loss.
Covers can be fitted above the water surface (deck-mounted) or recessed so the roller sits below the waterline and is hidden from view when open.
Pool Cover in motion
The mechanism
Interlocking slats, typically PVC or polycarbonate, are connected in a continuous band that winds onto a motorized roller at one end of the pool. The motor is controlled by a wall switch, remote or key switch; safety edges and current-limiting prevent the cover closing onto an obstruction.
Pool Cover configurations
Above-Deck (Surface-Mounted) Pool Cover
The most accessible installation, with the roller visible at pool's edge; suited to most residential pools.
Bench-Style Pool Cover
The roller is integrated into a poolside bench or step, reducing its visual footprint.
Concealed / Underwater Pool Cover
The roller sits in a recess below the waterline, fully hidden when the cover is open — the premium option for a clean architectural look.

Frequently asked questions
Can a pool cover be retrofitted to an existing pool?
In most cases yes, particularly above-deck models; concealed systems are easier to plan into a new build but can sometimes be retrofitted depending on the pool's structure. This is assessed during the on-site survey.
Does a cover actually improve child safety?
A closed, load-rated cover acts as a physical barrier over the water, which is why pool covers are widely used as part of a layered safety approach around pools.
Does a cover reduce heating and chemical costs?
Yes — closing the cover when the pool isn't in use reduces evaporation, heat loss and chemical consumption, lowering running costs over a season.
How is the cover powered and controlled?
A motor at one end of the roller is controlled by a wall switch, remote control or key switch; the installation requires a nearby power connection, confirmed during the survey.
