Bioclimatic Pergola: Control Sun, Shade and Air with One Touch
With rotating aluminium louvres, our bioclimatic pergolas give you full shade on sunny days and a fully sealed roof in the rain — turning your terrace or garden into a space you can use all year round.
What is a Bioclimatic Pergola?
A bioclimatic pergola is a motorized outdoor roof system built from rotating aluminium louvres. Closed, the louvres overlap to form a watertight roof; opened to any angle, they let in light and air while still providing shade.
Unlike a fixed roof or a fabric awning, a bioclimatic pergola adapts to the weather in seconds — closing automatically when a rain or wind sensor detects a change, and opening again once conditions improve. It is the system of choice for homeowners, cafés and restaurants that want year-round use of an outdoor space without sacrificing natural light and ventilation on good days.

The mechanism
A tube motor mounted in the frame rotates the aluminium louvres between 0° and 135° using a geared drive mechanism. Closed, overlapping louvre edges and integrated rain channels route water away through the support columns. Wind and rain sensors can close the roof automatically during a storm, and most installations include integrated LED lighting and remote or smart-home control.

Frequently asked questions
Does a bioclimatic pergola really keep out rain?
Yes. In the closed position the louvre edges overlap and integrated gutters inside the columns channel water away, keeping the space beneath fully dry in normal rainfall.
Can the louvres be controlled automatically?
Yes. An optional wind and rain sensor package closes the roof automatically when weather conditions change, and reopens it once conditions clear.
How long does installation take?
After the on-site survey, the system is manufactured to your exact measurements. A standard residential pergola is typically installed within 1–2 days.
Is a planning permit required?
Requirements vary by municipality and building type. We recommend checking with your local authority or building management before installation; our team can advise based on similar completed projects.
